Have you ever wondered what it's like being a machine? Unable to feel emotion and only able to follow orders given, what if that machine was corrupted? Only able to spread fear among people? But it's not fully corrupted, for it can still feel emotions on a certain scale, this is the organizations way, this is the creation of the new world, this is apparatus.

The year is 2028, society is frustrating and competitive. Anyone who has a fair sum of money can buy an android with artificial pain receptors which they can punch, kick, burn, cut and strangle to their enjoyment. This is the story of one such android, PD-4001, built with an extraordinary density of pain receptors, who runs away from its owner's retreat in the swiss alps. Although PD-4001 only has one plan at the start; to travel as far as possible, it eventually meets up with a group of rescued androids, and together they go to live with the pacifist monks of the Lily Temple. Circumstances do however force them on an extended journey in which they discover human society, their own origin and purpose and existence itself. I wrote this novel back in 2018-2019 and revised it in 2020-2021, but it was first now that I realized I should post it online. I have been thinking about making a "remaster" with better plot, more likely language and more dynamical world building. So maybe that will happen. This is the first draft of my new cyberpunk novel, The Electric Archipelago. In the future humanity is imprisoned by massive corporations. Computers are directly connected to their brains, creating a nightmarish state of absolute control, every action is monitored and harshly judged. Perhaps worst of all, the victim's perception of reality itself is controlled. A system of social credit hangs over everyone's heads. If you want to survive you will need to pick a company and stay loyal to that brand. But it goes beyond that, because each corporation has been infiltrated and taken over by forces that are interested in more than just profit. John is a Skinwalker, a free man, a man who is immune to these restrictions. He goes where he wants and does what he wants, moving from one augmented reality to the next, always looking for the next score.Complete
