Standing in the shadows of the massive outdoor amphitheatre, sixteen-year-old Alec Sanmi felt the bass of the crowd's anticipation vibrating through the soles of his trainers. He was the co-founder and co-CEO of Feline Inc., yet his mouth was bone dry right now. Thousands of people were out there, a sea of expectation baying for the boy genius. It sounded less like an audience and more like a hungry beast waiting to be fed.
"Stick to the approved bullet points, Alec." Shola's voice cut through the din. At twenty-eight, Feline Inc.'s Head of PR was a master of control, her eyes rapidly scanning a translucent datapad. "No ad-libbing. No reacting to hecklers. You hit the narrative, you trigger the swarm, you smile, and you get off the stage. Understood?"
Alec swallowed hard, adjusting the collar of his bespoke jacket. He'd read the press feeds this morning, the articles calling him a corporate dictator in teenage clothing, the blogs questioning how a kid wielded so much unchecked power. "I'm bricking it, Shola," he admitted, his voice barely audible over the chanting outside. "The media's been mad lately. What if they think this is all just crap?"
