It is the year 1200, and magic is afoot in a small Irish kingdom. Near the castle, in a wood at the edge of a green, green field, lives Orla, an exiled fairy. She has been trapped in the world of men since she missed her dawn curfew for returning to her own land, and has only her own curiosity to blame. She is able to masquerade as one of them, but she feels forever alone among the people she meets. Her endless desire to know more about human lives—and her profession as a healer—leads her to a friendship of sorts with Prince Ninean, the younger of the king’s sons, a reckless young man with a chip on his shoulder the size of Croagh Patrick. Then she meets his older brother, the spiritual, gentlemanly, and perfectly handsome Prince Ronan. What’s a fairy to do? While she debates the merits of the two young men, she becomes more and more deeply embroiled in the life of the castle—her curiosity once again leading her into danger. Will she solve the mysteries of the royal family before her true identity is discovered? Will she ever find her way back home?

Selene was never meant to survive. A mortal in the deadly and glittering world of the fae, she is an anomaly-an outsider marked by an attack that should have killed her. Instead, she lives, healing faster than she should, sensing magic in ways no human should. Thrown into the treacherous Thorn Court, Selene must prove her worth or be cast aside. But as she navigates deadly court politics, masked enemies, and the suffocating attention of Lord Erith, she finds an unlikely ally in Kael, the enigmatic fae prince bound by duty and secrets of his own. When an assassination attempt nearly succeeds, Selene's buried power erupts-warping time, twisting memories, and catching the attention of a shadowed enemy who whispers in horror: This magic should have died long ago. You are a mistake. Now, Selene must uncover the truth about herself before the court destroys her. Before Kael is forced to choose between his kingdom and the one girl who should not exist.
