In the football-obsessed town of Redfield, Texas, there are two things everyone agrees on: 1. Bennett Walker is the best quarterback the town has ever seen. 2. His breakup with his perfect, picture-ready girlfriend? A scandal. Because when Bennett's ex-head cheerleader, queen of the sidelines, and very much not over him-starts showing up to every game with someone new on her arm, the entire town is suddenly picking sides. Enter Margaret Mayne. New girl. Blonde. Talks to everyone. Knows the lunch lady's birthday by day three and convinces half the school to sit together like one big chaotic family. She joins cheer and dance, instantly becoming everyone's favorite person-and the one person who doesn't treat Bennett like he's untouchable. So when Bennett, slightly desperate and very much tired of watching his ex play games, jokingly asks Margaret to be his fake girlfriend for a few weeks... She says yes. What's real and what's fake?

Everly Coleman starts freshman year with three very simple goals: Pass psychology. Make friends. Don't lose her mind sharing a dorm with a random guy. Then Jackson Bennett walks in. Jackson's annoyingly good at football, fully aware of it too, and somehow treats getting on Everly's nerves like it's a competitive sport. He steals her snacks, teases her constantly, and keeps acting like barging into her life is completely normal. Which would already be bad enough on its own. Unfortunately, Everly's older brother Logan absolutely hates him. Now Everly's dealing with football practices, dorm room arguments over popcorn, late-night conversations that are becoming a little too personal, and an entire football team way too invested in her love life. It's fine. Probably.
