Odessa is twenty-three years old.

She is a servant at the palace of shadows, where the liminal meets reality. She came to live there, orphaned at the age of eight. These things are true about her--

Lysander is a prince of particularity. He sees everything, and when he sees a servant stealing, he wants to know why she would be so bold. Instead of punishing her with exile, he does something much worse. He punishes her with proximity. She is to be his personal attendant for seven days.
