"Did you take math or biology in high school?" she asked softly, her voice low and curious.

"Hmm..." she murmured.

Her fingers lightly brushed his sleeve as she spoke.

She gasped softly, placing a hand over her heart in mock offense.

"That was so unromantic of you."

She stepped closer, tilting her head, eyes sparkling with mischief and something far more dangerous.

"What if one day," she whispered playfully, "you look at me and realize you can't live without me?"

"Hmm..." she hummed, unconvinced, her lips curving into a teasing smile.

For a moment, silence lingered between them-thick, charged, and impossible to ignore.

He turned his face away first.
