Aurazeth looks like salvation from the sea-golden walls rising clean against the horizon, a kingdom of light that promises order where the world has grown wild. But its beauty is a lure, and its hunger is quiet. Sylphie is kept within it as something the kingdom refuses to name properly. Not quite prisoner, not quite slave-an asset bound to their experiments, forced to sift through the broken remnants of fae instinct so Aurazeth can pry at something she does not fully possess: the way back to the fae homelands. They believe she is a map drawn in flesh and memory. She is not. Sylphie doesn't know the way home. Not anymore. What she carries are fragments too fractured to align, instincts that misfire, memories that loop back on themselves. Aurazeth keeps her anyway, because even broken pieces can be forced into patterns given enough pressure. And then there is him-one of Aurazeth's princes, never introduced with ceremony, never treated like destiny. He comes without title or spectacle, slipping into her orbit like a flaw in the system. At first, he is just another part of the cage. Then he becomes something worse: a variable Aurazeth cannot control. Their connection starts as necessity, sharp-edged and wary, built on leverage and survival-but it begins to shift in the spaces between commands and silence, in the moments where neither of them is sure who is using whom anymore. Across the sea, her sister sails alone toward the golden horizon. She was never meant to be queen, never wanted a throne, but she is the only one who carries what Sylphie has lost completely-the true path home, whole and unbroken, written not in fragments but in her blood. Aurazeth thinks it is hunting a map. It is not. It has captured the wrong sister.
