What if LUNCH didn't have the playful beginning we thought it did? What if finding the words, and the muse, was a heartbreak story all along?

In the summer of 2023, Billie Eilish is finishing her most important album yet, and the song has been sitting in her journal for over a year - three lines she wrote on a tour bus outside Amsterdam, and a gap she can't close from the outside of an experience she's never had. Then she sees Paloma Solís across a room in May and the wanting arrives. The song arrives too, in the same breath. Billie decides, in a way she will spend a year not looking at, that she can have both.

Paloma is new to Los Angeles - warm and careful, honest on camera and private everywhere else, the kind of person who does not fall fast. She falls for Billie anyway.

This is a story about desire and calculation arriving in the same moment. And the song that gets written anyway.
