The Worst Section

In Brighton Academy, students were sorted.

Not officially.

Not written in the brochures parents proudly showed their neighbors.

But everyone knew.

There were the top sections-the pride of the school. The students universities fought over. The ones teachers guided carefully, like investments that would surely pay off.

And then there were the others.

The ones who struggled. The ones who missed classes. The ones who were labeled too early. They were placed in the section everyone quietly talked about.

The worst section.

A classroom where expectations went to die.

Where teachers stopped trying. Where students slowly learned that the system had already decided their future. Most people believed nothing good could come from that room. Most people believed those students were already lost.

But systems, no matter how powerful, have one weakness.

They break... when someone refuses to follow them.
