At five years old, Aitana Gomez Plaza learned that love doesn't always stay.

Now sixteen, she's built a life without the one person who left-her mother, Aubrey Plaza.

Raised by her dad Rafael, and stepmom Mariana who chose her every day, and two younger brothers Alejandro and Mateo, Aitana found stability in the family that stayed. Even though her past followed her, she made something of her own in the acting world, wanting to succeed without anyone's name but hers.

But distance doesn't erase everything.

When Aitana unexpectedly learns about her mother's new pregnancy through a video on TikTok, she's forced back into a life she thought she'd outgrown returning to New York, surrounded by family she still loves but a mother she no longer knows.

But just when Aitana thinks she can keep that part of her life separate, everything collides.
