The money traces back to Sursum and Inferiom nobility. The authority behind it traces higher: A long thought dead being referred to as 'Order' is gathering an alliance of power players, in order to fan the embers of a Second War. With a doctrine that hybrids are an error to be corrected. Four veil breaches tear open across D.C. in a single night. Edge Unit splits to cover them. Reynar nearly dies in combat before something unexpected happens that saves his life. It also reveals a darker truth. Kira unlocks her angelic secret she's been hiding from the Unit she's been hiding since the close of The Edge to survive. Sursum responds by coming to earth and takes her off the Grid entirely.
