Summary

In a world where nearly 20% of the population possesses extraordinary abilities known as Oddities, those gifted with them are often feared, misunderstood, and hunted. Many carry painful pasts and deep emotional scars, forcing them into hiding to escape a society that sees them as anything but normal.

Some are taken to mysterious facilities and are never heard from again. Those trapped within call themselves the Inside, while those who remain free are known as the Outside.

Elsie Kirigaya and her three closest friends-Kylie, Cassadie, and Cersie-all possess Oddities and have spent their lives on the Outside, trying to live as normally as possible. But everything changes during the summer before college when Kylie-Elsie's ex-girlfriend, not entirely by choice-pulls them into an adventure that will change their lives forever.

As they uncover the truth behind two of the facilities, the friends risk everything to free the Inside and expose the horrors hidden behind closed doors. Standing in their way is Damian Lord, the powerful President of the facilities, whose sinister plans for his captives could change the fate of every person with an Oddity.

With danger closing in, secrets unraveling, and old feelings resurfacing, Elsie, Kylie, Cassadie, and Cersie must decide who they can trust-and what they're willing to sacrifice.

Can they stop Damian Lord before it's too late? Can the people they've rescued finally find freedom? And as the past refuses to stay buried, will Elsie and Kylie find their way back to each other, or are some hearts meant to stay broken?
