To halt the shadow of war, their sovereigns decreed that their children would be bound in wedlock, weaving alliance from lineage.

But time transforms children into souls of their own. When the hour of betrothal arrived, the prince of Veyland and the princess of Aurelia-no longer innocent nor pliant-raised their voices in defiance. They rejected a marriage made of treaties, thrones, and fear.
