At eighteen, Josephine's life is a rigid cycle of survival. After being disowned at fifteen and abandoned by the father of her child, she has spent the last two years working nonstop to provide for her son, Ethan.

Every cent of her $22.90 hourly wage at an upscale downtown hotel is accounted for, split between a $1,120 monthly rent for a crumbling apartment and the $13 an hour she pays her unreliable babysitter.
