"Nightmares eh? All full of...angry, scary things. Brilliant."
A core by the name of Wheatley is unlike the others. He befriended a test subject, took over GLaDOS and put her in a potato battery, got portal-ed to space, and became a human. Again.
Yes, you heard correctly ladies and gentlemen, a robot personality was once a human, stripped of their bodies and plugged into a computer. Fun stuff, huh?
Well, much like many humans, Wheatley gets nightmares. But not just any regular "Oh no, scary stuff!" type of nightmares, these are...special. Have you ever had a dream where you couldn't tell if it really happened or not? Imagine that as a nightmare. Scary stuff.
Along with the fright of such things, he usually has them about his best friend Chell dying, with his own death soon approaching after. Not the sort of things you would think a happy, silly, child-like grown man to have.

[ Rated #21 in the Portal tag. I'm honored and impressed, thank you all so much for the continued interest. ]

Subject 3281; Chell's Story by UnisonBeck
39 parts Complete
Test. That was what she did, and Subject 3281 did it well. She was the model subject, fit, strong, on time, and most of all... obedient. That's how she was, until one fateful day, when the higher-ups at Aperture Science figured that they could get more out of their testing if two subjects were present, and so launched the "Aperture Science Co-operative Testing Initiative", pairing Subject 3281 with another Test subject. A boy. A boy who forced Subject 3281 to re-think her complacency, to yearn for freedom as they all did. To begin thinking like the girl she had been; instead of the person she had become. ~----------------------------------~ So, I was writing a short story one day, and realized that--with a bit of tweaking--this could turn into a Portal 2 fan-fic! While I do believe that Blue Sky is the BEST fan-fic for Portal 2 out there, and deserves to be canon, I think that this is still a relatively believable Chell backstory. (This is set after Cave Johnson's death, and before Caroline/GLaDOS killed everyone but the test subjects with neurotoxin, and placed Chell in stasis.) Enjoy! This is not a Chelley fan-fic, and doesn't include Wheatley, as this is set prior to the timeline of the first game. I don't own Portal, Portal 2, or the characters in the game; but this story is my own, from my imagination. I also don't own the amazing cover art, and I don't know who does... same goes for the chapter art, they're all either off of Google or Pinterest! 😂 P.S. the first chapter sort of "sets the scene" for the rest of the book, so bear with me!
