She'd noticed him before she ever knew his name, a stranger at Jumu'ah she wasn't supposed to be looking twice at. Then came the proposal, and somehow, impossibly, it was him. Two months wasn't supposed to be enough to fall in love with someone you'd just met. It was. Then he left for what should have been a short trip. It didn't stay short. And nothing about the life they'd started came home the same way it left. This isn't a story about love surviving distance. It's about what love does when it comes home changed. "But they plan, and Allah plans. Indeed, Allah is the best of planners." (Qur'an 8:30)
