Drina is determined, ruthless, and protective. She loves beasts more than people, thinks killing is natural, and explores ways to increase her terrifying power. She uses it mostly to erase poachers and criminals from the Forbidden Forest and protect its inhabitants. But her true goal is simpler and far more dangerous: to become powerful enough that no one can ever harm her family, her so-called pack. Since last year, that pack includes Sebastian Sallow.

Yet not everything can be solved by gathering more power.

The story follows Drina through her sixth year, as Sebastian struggles to live with what he has done, rebuild what he has broken with Anne and Ominis, and decide what kind of man he wants to become. Drina, meanwhile, faces pure-blood politics, plots to kill her and steal her power, and the consequences of her own increasingly brutal choices. But her most desperate battles are with Sebastian's demons and insecurities, the very things that stand between them and finally being together.
