The Best worst Thing

Liam and Alex had been a "package deal" since they were five years old. From playing in the dirt in preschool to staying up all night playing video games in middle school, they were always together. Sharing snacks, studying for tests, and sleeping over at each other's houses was just their normal routine.

But as they started their final years of high school, things began to change. Alex became obsessed with soccer, spending all his time on the field. Liam, coming from a wealthy family, didn't really get the appeal. He jokingly called it a "waste of time," preferring to stay in his room with a good book or his headphones on.

Even though their hobbies were totally different now, they still stayed closer than anyone else. They were best friends, the kind who always looked out for one another no matter what.

Then, things got messy for Liam.

He started noticing small things-the way Alex smiled or how he felt a weird "spark" whenever they accidentally bumped shoulders. Suddenly, being around his best friend felt scary. It was a good feeling, like a rush of energy, but it also felt "wrong" because it was so new.

Liam tried his best to push the feeling down deep. He was terrified that if he said anything, or even let it show, it would ruin everything. He didn't want to break the friendship they had spent their whole lives building. To him, losing Alex was the worst thing that could happen, so he decided to keep his heart quiet, even if it hurt to stay silent.
