Beulah is a senior secondary school student in Nigeria who is constantly told, directly and indirectly, that her body is a problem.
At school, she is bullied for being chubby. At home, she is pressured by family members who disguise criticism as "concern." Outside, strangers freely comment on her weight, offering unwanted advice like it is their right. Every space she enters becomes another reminder that she is being watched, judged, and measured.
Over time, the constant pressure begins to change how Beulah sees herself. What starts as innocent attempts to "fix" her body slowly turns into harmful habits, emotional isolation, and a painful struggle with self-image. She becomes trapped in a cycle of self-blame, comparison, and quiet emotional breakdowns, while still trying to survive school and daily life.
But beneath all the noise, Beulah begins a deeper journey-one that has nothing to do with shrinking her body and everything to do with understanding her worth beyond it.
Too Much of Me is a raw and emotional coming-of-age story about bullying, body shaming, mental health struggles, and the pressure young girls face in silence. It follows one girl's journey through pain, confusion, and healing as she slowly learns that her body is not an enemy-and that she is not too much for simply existing.
This is not about becoming smaller.
It is about becoming whole.
