This is a story about a guy named August Stark. He lives in a trailer with his nomad-like mother who can't keep a man for more than 3 months which means August as never lived anywhere for more than 3 months. He's never finished a school semester, he stopped trying to make friends years ago when he realized he wouldn't be keeping any, and writes in notebooks as a way to ease his grief. Until they reach Florida, until he meets Mason, until he meets Raelyn, until he makes friends who change his perspective on life, until his mother finally seems settled. Things seem fine...until the secrets start pouring out. (I know this is cheesy, the story is MUCH better than this, so please have a read! All people and places are fictional! If they resemble someone in real life, I promise I didn't stalk you, its just an accident!!)

For 17-year-old high school senior Evan Brooks, life could be better. He's a social outcast at school, stuck in a rural Alabama small town he never wanted to move to, and he's got a secret he's desperately trying to keep: he's gay. When he embarks on a weekend vacation to the Florida panhandle with his hypermasculine brother, homophobic stepdad, and aloof mother, none of them can anticipate how much a simple 3-day trip will change their lives forever... **2025 Update: Hi! This was my very first attempt at crafting an entire story from scratch all the way back in 2020, and I'd like to think my writing has since improved. I've started working on a big rewrite project, so stay tuned for a newly enhanced story! Please visit the last chapter (2025 Rewrite Info/Updates) for more details. In the meantime, the original story will remain here in full - just know that I know some parts of it are cringe lol. I hope you still enjoy it though! :) Some details have changed between this story and Road to Rockdale in anticipation of the rewrite, so please excuse some inconsistencies if you're coming from that story. I promise everything will line up eventually! CONTENT WARNING/TRIGGERS: Please note that this story contains very strong language at times and some mature themes. Some characters face emotional abuse. There is also a small amount of physical abuse, but it is mostly implied apart from one scene which is not extremely graphic. Some characters are homophobic, and a slur is used a handful of times.

Book Three of Five in the New Beginnings Series. **You do NOT have to read Inhale, Exhale, & Breathe to enjoy these stories** AUGUST LUNA: Fake dating my nemesis, what a twisted web we have weaved, isn't it? I want to get under Davis Adler's skin, and what better way to do that than by feeding the media about my secret romance with his son, Kayax Adler? Shiny, glittery, superstar-Kayax Adler. Something is going on with Kayax, and the more time I'm forced to spend around him, the more it gets harder for me to ignore. He was supposed to perish, and now I wonder if I was too focused on the wrong Adler. Kayax needs my attention. More than I realized. When Davis gets arrested after an anonymous tip sent in to the police station, I close in on the sassy superstar. There's darkness under his gaze. Heaviness. Hatred. And it's not for me. He's not the one who needs to perish. KAYAX ADLER: I don't mind my fake relationship to a Luna. Not at all. Not when he starts mindlessly... caring about me. I'm supposed to hate him, I know. My Dad drilled that in my head ever since the forced me into the industry the moment I turned eighteen. But I'm hiding a lot of secrets, and they don't all have to do with the abuse of my father. The one who didn't even raise me. But when someone-my father-leaks a video of my eighth grade talent show, I'm shoved into the spotlight even more. Because it was never about the fact I had an impeccable singing voice for as long as I could remember. It was the song choice. An Elijah Luna song. August is confused. I'm losing myself in August and getting confused myself. I can't fall in love with him. But it's too late. I fall in love with August Luna, and I can never have him for real. Only for fake.
