"You think you're clever, Jeon?" Taehyung's voice was low and sharp, pressing Jungkook against the wall as a tactical knife skimmed his collarbone.

"Playing the quiet guard like it means something."

Jungkook didn't blink.

"I'm exactly what I was sent to be," he said calmly. "Nothing more, Mr. Kim."

In a blur, the knife was gone.

And suddenly it wasn't Jungkook against the wall anymore.

It was Taehyung.

The blade rested against his throat, steady hands holding it there like it meant nothing.

Jungkook stood too close. Too calm. Like panic was something he had never learned.

His gaze dropped briefly to Taehyung's pulse.

Then rose again.

Slow.
Controlled.

"Careful," he murmured. "You keep reaching for things you don't understand."

Taehyung's jaw tightened.

Jungkook leaned in slightly, closing the space until it felt less like distance and more like restraint.

"Some things open on their own," he said quietly. "When they decide you're worth the damage."

A pause.

"And you," Jungkook added, eyes dark, "are already being studied."
