Katie has become a problem. Armed with a talent for being exactly where she shouldn't be, she's crawling through vents, lurking in shadows, and eavesdropping on conversations that could get her sent back to the Machine if anyone noticed. She's also acquired a case of deeply suspicious mystery glitter that may be magic, drugs, or a mixture of both.
Fox is thriving, which is to say, lying constantly, manipulating outcomes just enough to stay alive, and pretending this is all part of his clever plan. Beri is having a terrifying time. Stranded far from home, glowing inconveniently, and deeply unimpressed with the local moral standards, he is trying to help Eagle without losing his temper, his dignity, or his heart - not necessarily in that order.
