I have decided to write this after the whole debacle on April 12, 2026, when a small but loud group of people decided to harass and send death threats to a freaking 17-year-old, and gave him no choice but to stay at home for prom out of fear for his life and his friends' and family's safety. A similar thing occurred to Leah as well.
As someone who is into fanfiction and has been a veteran here for as long as I have, I truly found the whole event disturbing to my core.
Fanfiction was not a place for something like that.
Fanfiction is supposed to be a community where we, as fans, find a certain pairing of dynamics to be cute, to the point that we see the 2 individuals as muses for our imagination. Like it's literally for hihi and hehe. Cause you know... It's FanFICTION.
It's DEFINITELY not something you could force into real life, because it will either ruin the dynamic we all once loved or turn it into a staged prop for PR purposes. Do you want that?
I don't.
And this story was inspired by that. I want my first publication about these two to be a little more wholesome, while diving into the damage a genuine connection and bond could bear from the noise of other people who have no business in it, and the amount of effort it would take to mend that (if it's even possible).
Hopefully, this will inspire us shippers to be more respectful and discreet about our biases.
I do find these two very cute, and they have been muses for stories I work on. But it ended there.
