Nicolas lives the perfect life.

He has everything he needs, everything he could ever want, and he's on his way to do great thing. 
But the great things that he has in mind for himself don't exactly coincide with what his English teacher/father/all-powerful Mayan god of corn, sorry, I mean god of maize, has planned for him. 

Much like a strawberry, Nicolas' life is grinded and mashed into a smoothie of chaos when he is almost killed by his twin brother, almost killed by a hot Mayan ghost and almost killed by the Mayan lords of death and disease who actually intend to kill him. 

So basically... he almost dies a lot.
