What About Tory?

We all know the Gilmore Girls, Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, the famous mother and daughter of Stars Hollow known for their fast talking, coffee, shared movies, junk food, and unbreakable bond.

But there is another part of their story that was never really told.

Rory Gilmore has a twin sister. Her name is Tory Gilmore.

Tory is an academic prodigy just like Rory, but she is different in almost every other way. She excels in basketball, cheer, and piano, and she also does ballet. She stays busy all the time because slowing down means feeling things she would rather not face.

Lorelai and Rory share an effortless connection built on years of closeness and shared habits. Tory loves them both, but she never fully feels like she belongs in that same bond. She often feels like the one standing just outside of it.

She is not unloved, but she has never quite felt chosen in the same way.

The only place she truly feels fully seen is with her grandparents, Emily and Richard Gilmore, who admire her ambition, discipline, and intelligence. To them, she is exactly who they always expected in the family.
