Verena Thorne is your average homeless fae - except for the part where she lies, cheats and steals in order to survive. It's the only way she know to survive this cruel realm where gods are worshipped alongside the elites and the poor are treated like dirt. Things change drastically for Verena when the annual draw pulls her name and she is forced into a deadly competition of fae. The Deadly Games are a series of brutal trials intended to honour their bloodthirsty deities. The victors are rewarded with honour and sanctuary on the island, while the weak are killed off. Verena is smart, tactical, and forced to play the role of the underdog. Her role is to pretend to be weak, fight to the death, and earn allies that she will be forced to betray for her own survival. Things take a pivotal turn for Verena when she must choose to turn her focus away from her own survival and to the safety of all the fae and humans in the realm. Will she answer the call?
The mythology in this book is loosely based on the greek gods, and is by no means a polished work. This is my debut into writing and the first completed story i will be posting on here.
