I woke up with a sense of relief that I haven't felt in a long. Last night I dreamed about Campbell. I was leaving and she gave me her number and she said she'd miss me. I hugged her tightly and even though I couldn't feel her I knew she was there. That's a sense of relief I haven't felt in a long time

I cut through my skin making an "x" on my wrist. "This is why I don't trust people... " I thought. "He doesn't understand the pain I go through, no one does." I cut through my skin again making a deeper cut as blood rushed down my arm. "Everyone I meet leaves me. He's just like all the others. He would stay if he cared. It's all my fault isn't it? "No! I don't wanna hear a damn thing you gotta say. You betrayed me!" I said as I snatched my arm away and stormed out without turning back. I got into my car and looked at the scratch in the mirror. As Monte trailed behind me, I quickly pulled out the parking lot and sped home. When I got home, the neighbor was outside on the porch again. He waved, but I couldn't find the strength to wave back and ran into the house before I completely broke down. As soon as I closed the door, I slid to the floor and cried my eyes out. She didn't reply and I felt her finger move across my skin, lower, and almost all the way down my lower back. A shiver coursed through my body, strangely pleasant, and I felt her finger stop. "Your tattoos are beautiful," she said softly. Too close. She was too close. My pulse was hammering and I could feel her cool breath against my skin when she spoke, and my body was warm from having felt her. I couldn't reply. My breathing was light and shaken. I wanted to just turn around and pull her against me, or rather put her against a wall, so I could kiss her and feel her more properly against me. If she touched me again, I wasn't sure that I could keep myself from doing just that. "I'm going to take a shower," I said suddenly in an attempt to escape. She didn't stop me, so I took that opportunity to walk away. When I reached the bathroom, I took a deep breath to steady myself as well as my pulse.
