Prologue - December 31, 2499 At this very moment, the void of space burns. Millions of Earth's soldiers are risking their lives in a total war for the future of the Solar System. Earth Alliance starships, supported by thousands of Lancer units, fight a desperate battle in defense of our territory. These war machines-seventeen-meter steel colossi armed with vibro-blades and plasma artillery-are the only thing separating us from complete annihilation. It is the greatest conflict in human history, and our sole objective is not to disappear. We are being invaded by the Vex. Terrifying beings that seek no dialogue, only territory. We don't know what they are, but they are coming for our Earth, and we will not stop until we see them fall. I am at the remotest edge of the Solar System, in the absolute darkness beyond the Oort Cloud. I am in the cockpit of my Quantum Lancer, ready to force a breach in the fabric of space-time. My mission: to jump directly into the heart of the Vex Empire. It will be a journey of 80,000 light-years in just a few seconds-a distance no one has ever crossed before. I only have enough energy for a one-way jump; there is no turning back, no reinforcements. I must strike before the human race goes extinct. I am Hamil Star, and this is my story.
