Just two girls, going to Julliard, waiting tables part time to pay bills.  Jo and Anna were two of the most "normal" girls you could possibly meet. Each one had different tastes in music, style of clothing, they were both diverse; they seemed like the "most well behaved girls" you could hope to meet.
