Synopsis:
This story takes place in an alternate reality where S.H.I.E.L.D. and Vought International compete for dominance over the superheroes. At the center is the former superhero team Payback, which decades ago was led by the tyrannical Soldier Boy. After the team betrayed their leader to the Russians in Nicaragua, the group disbanded and its members scattered to the four winds.
The story begins the very moment Soldier Boy returns to New York after decades of captivity and causes a devastating explosion. Daisy Johnson, who once suffered under Soldier Boy's cruelty as the youngest member, realizes that the time for reckoning has come. To survive, she must find her old comrades-but the ghosts of the past and repressed emotions make the mission life-threatening.
