Duality

Every day, Fritz Foster wears a mask.
Framed for murder as a teenager, he's been on the run for years just to protect his brother's false innocence, living life in the shadow of a crime he didn't commit. He's found refuge in the form of the Archipelago, a carefully kept secret harboring the city's most wanted criminals. He survives there by playing the role written for him by his brother and the rest of the world: the role of a murderer. Unlovable, feared by all, and utterly alone.
That is, until he meets Kumara Deveraux, a chatty teenager who struggles to keep up in school and who believes everyone in Traverse City is his friend. What begins as tutoring sessions and reluctant conversations slowly grows into something more meaningful for both of them, and Fritz is forced to confront his own identity: who is he when he's not what everyone expects him to be? Can anyone love him for what's underneath the mask...and can he ever learn to love himself?
This story is for anyone who has ever felt like they've had to compromise who they are just to get through life.
