This is the first part of a dilogy, featuring my personal take on what might have happened before the start of the canon story.
The focus is entirely on Rocky and Zuma. There is no room for accidental emotions here: every choice has consequences, and every silence carries its own weight.
Please note that this work contains canon divergence regarding how the pups joined Ryder's team.
Spoiler: It's important to note - for those who care - that the original characters will be removed from the story halfway through.
