When Mephiles returns and uses that trauma to make him completely helpless, Sonic finds himself stripped of his speed and treated like a pet. Oh, and somewhere in the middle of all that, he realizes he has feelings for Shadow. He really should have asked Tails about that demon repelling forcefield.
