They like to call themselves Daoine Maithe, 'The Good People' but no one can truly believe that after what they've caused.

In a society where love and everything in between is illegal and emotions are chemically suppressed, humanity must continue to live under the dark shadows of the Recondites, mysterious beings that aren't truly understood by society, but are blamed for the natural calamity caused by the consequences of them having dangerous emotions.

When Finnegan Varralet is recruited to be a Certified Recondite Hunter after a devastating ambush that wipes out most of the force and more of their society, he can only see one path: Keep his identity a secret and be rewarded with justice for the family that he watched get murdered.

This is all dropped at the bottom of the pit once he fully meets Atlas Riverson, another recruit who challenges every truth Finnegan has ever been taught as the days go by of them getting to know each other. As illegal emotions begin to simmer and the cracks in the Government's narrative widen, Finnegan must come to terms with a confronting possibility:
