Fading like December skies

The air in December felt colder than usual. Not because of the weather, but because something between us had changed. We used to laugh at the smallest things, filling quiet nights with warmth that made everything else disappear. But now, silence sat between us like an uninvited guest.

I noticed it in the way you stopped reaching for my hand, in how your eyes no longer searched for mine. Conversations became shorter, replies more distant. I kept holding on, hoping things would go back to how they were but deep down, I knew they wouldn't.

One evening, as the sky faded into a dull gray, I realized the truth. Love doesn't always end with a fight or a goodbye. Sometimes, it simply fades slowly, quietly like December skies losing their light.
