The tribe of the Nuku-Nuku were an ancient people...one of the first peoples to master fire-bending. Until the 100 year war by which Sozen turned the Fire Nation into a tyrannical state, the Nuku-Nuku lived in peace with the Fire Nation, sharing the many gifts they had with the people. However, when Sozen attacked, he demanded the tribe send their greatest firebenders, but they were unable to comply. This led to their banishment, and reconfiguration as a Nomadic tribe.
They stayed in relative peace despite the war...that was until a certain boy showed up on an Air Bison and screwed everything up! Now here you are, a fire-bending instructor who is unable to teach the young Avatar, and finds that she cannot get along with his new instructor.
