The Gods Who Whisper

A Knight returns home-half-mad, hearing the whispered voices of the Fallen men he's killed. His kingdom betrays him, sentencing him to death.

The young girl is used to the streets, quite capable of fending for herself. But there a monster lurking in the shadows, snatching up the urchin children of her city.

He is a mercenary. Pay the gold, he'll keep the promise. That is until the day he is paid to kill a witch-she is far more clever than she seems.

She wishes for nothing more than her husband's death. He is a cruel, heartless man. She would feel no guilt if she slit his throat in the night, except for the inscrutable fact that her kingdom is small. Easily consumed in one bite.

The prince would much prefer it if he were simply forgotten. Erased from history. Absent of that, he faked his death if only to stop the assassins from coming for him. He is content with this, content with the life he has chosen until he meets a woman. Her eyes sad. Empty. Hopeless.

The Witch of the Wood likes to be alone. It is quiet in her woods. Peaceful. A place where she may study her craft without disturbance. It is ruined-of course-by the incessant knocking of a man. A quite handsome man, to make matters worse. Eyes dark, smile charming, and his intent as lethal as can be.
