She was never supposed to survive.

She sees her chance and offers a bargain to
let her go to war in her brother's place, disguised as a man, carrying his identity.

The King agrees without hesitation, already imagining her corpse on some distant battlefield, finally rid of the daughter he despises.

But in his eagerness to see her gone, he's made a fatal miscalculation.
