"I never should've let you back in." Harper is a 22 year old vet assistant. She's never been in a "relationship", she's never even had sex, nor is she interested. She's the youngest of two twin sisters. Her sisters have always been a handful, so even though she's the youngest she get pushed into the background. She doesn't blame her mother, however she does feel neglected sometimes. School, work, home that's been her routine for the past two years, and she takes great pride in knowing she can take care of herself. "Men bring problems I don't need." "Where's Harper?!" Zander Moore is a 26 year old felon who happens to have just gotten out of prison, and the only thing on his mind, the only thing keeping him going is the thought of seeing his beautiful Harper again. Zander suffers from a rare condition that affects only 1% of the population. The condition stops his nerve endings from detecting pain, so his mother had him set up at a hospital where he spent his early years learning to cope with said condition till the age of 15. Where he also developed a fear of abandonment, and a deep seated hatred for his mother. "The dew on a Lillie." What does the future hold for these two? Can he love her how she wants to be loved? Or, will his love be to much on her?

After fleeing her abusive ex in the middle of the night, Chloe Dawson arrives in a small coastal town with nothing but a duffel bag, a crying six-month-old baby, and the last of her savings. She rents a tiny apartment where the walls are paper-thin. Next door lives Sergeant Mason Kane, disciplined, exhausted, emotionally closed off, and currently on leave between military assignments. After years in the army, silence is the only thing that helps him sleep. Then the baby starts crying every night. At first, Mason is irritated. Chloe is terrified of him. Every knock on the door reminds her of the man she escaped.
