Blackbird has never considered himself lucky. Constantly blurring the line between firescales and a normal SkyWing has left him as an outcast across the continent - a challenge when all the tribes are pinned by a war. His wings take him two years abroad trying to settle down somewhere, but only resulting in disappointment and the addition of lifelong skills. In the end, he had one place left to go: the Scorpion Den. The desert is ruthless and unforgiving, sparing only its strongest soldiers. Blackbird, desperate for money, scrounges for jobs in the Den, putting his life - and his reputation - at risk. In his most vulnerable moment, he meets a NightWing who should be his one reason to leave... but might be his one reason to stay.
