Maria Harper Alvarra is a nursing student who also quietly works as a journalist. She prefers to keep her two lives separate, but a long-ignored case draws her into an investigation she can't easily step away from. What starts as simple curiosity slowly turns into something more complicated as she gathers information and speaks to different people connected to the case.

During her search, she meets Aries Grey Lyssander, a young artist who becomes part of her investigation in ways she didn't expect.
