Threads That Refuse To Break

They used to be certain of two things:
Each other.
And the path they were walking toward Allah.

Losing one was never supposed to mean losing the other.
But somewhere between distance and الدنيا...
they let go.
Not of each other, not completely.
That would have been easier.

Instead, they held on in all the wrong ways.
Through memories that refused to fade.
Through feelings that wouldn't quiet down.
Through a love that no longer knew where it belonged.

Because when they drifted, they didn't just grow apart-
they grew into people who wouldn't have chosen each other.

And yet... they still do.

In stolen glances.
In unsent messages.
In the quiet moments where everything inside them aches to go back,
but know that they can't.
Because love, no matter how deep, was never meant to come before Allah.
And faith, once shaken, doesn't return without a fight.

So when fate pulls them back into each other's orbit, it doesn't feel like relief.

It feels like a test.

Of who they are now.
Of what they've become.
Of whether what they have left is strong enough to survive the truth:

That distance didn't break them...
but loving each other like this just might.

And in the space between longing and letting go,
they're forced to ask themselves the question neither of them is ready to answer:

Is this love something meant to be protected...
or something they have to learn to walk away from
for the sake of the One they're both trying to return to?
