The Earth is finally dying. Humans have been doing wrong time and time again, failing to understand their mistakes. Eventually, history closes in on itself. Humans, now selfish and arrogant, fail to understand the importance of history and nature. Benji is a walking contradiction. He empathizes, but embodies selfish behaviour. One day, his entire life changes with a selfless, yet simple action. Little does he know, this could give him just what he needed all along. Maybe with his story, humans can also understand the wrongdoings of their actions. Maybe we can learn how to heal ourselves and the world.

this story was a narative essay that was assigned in my english class. it ends abruptly and some parts are patchy because i tried to finish it within the deadline. I hope you enjoy! If it surpasses enough views, i'll probably start working on making it longer, and fixing parts of the story. It's been almost a hundred years since Earth's civilizations fell, leaving only ruins and memories. They are a family, working together to make sure those things, Aliens, never take another human as long as they are near. When the aliens of A.C.R. (Animal Care and Rescue) find a new group of humans wandering the ruins of a large city, they think it will be an easy capture. But they soon learn that these particular humans have more willpower than most. They dodge every trap, disappear around every bend, and even manage to take some of the already captured humans with them. The aliens pity these "little creatures"-they just don't want to leave their home, but Earth is falling apart at the seams, and they are determined to take the stubborn little humans to the safety of one of the mother planets. No matter the cost.
