Cleo Anderson, a 25-year-old teacher in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is awaiting her arrival back to her small hometown of Molokaʻi, Hawaii, for summer break. Once the day comes and she is welcomed home, she is greeted with friendly faces, a warm summer breeze, her loving family, and a perfect summer ahead of her. Starting her annual summer job at her father's surf instructing Business Zen N Barrell Surf Co, life was going to be very sound this summer. That was until she saw her brother's idiot best friend, Kainoa, waving back at her, holding a surfboard with the brand logo Zen N Barrell Surf Co. on it, and that handsome, cocky smile on his face, the one that she had tried so hard to get out of her mind for the past 7 years. There is no way in hell she is letting him back into her life this time. She only needs to deal with him for 3 months. That's not too hard. Right? Kainoa Palaikio, a 30-year-old Navy Air Traffic Controller who just got back from his last station in Rota, Spain, is more than excited to be back home in Hawaii for the summer. Looking for a job to fill his free time, he begins work at his best friend's family business, Zen N Barrell Surf Co., as a surf instructor. His life on the go is beginning to run dry, and the want to settle down taunts him once, his eyes meet Cleo Anderson's. After 7 years, and a slightly messy history, she was no longer his best friend's annoying little sister who had a crush on him, but a beautiful woman with sarcasm that turned him on just a little too much. He only has 3 months to show her he's no longer her douchie brother's best friend. But a man who has changed his ways. Will this summer romance fizzle and burn as soon as it starts, or will it blossom like a hibiscus flower in the sunlight?
