The "Price" of her power is a relentless, agonizing neural frequency that has left Kai isolated, battle-hardened, and trapped in a world of constant pain. For twelve years, she has survived on grit and duty, expecting to eventually burn out just as her father did.

Then comes Taryn Lennox.

A brilliant, sharp-witted tech specialist sent from the sterile, high-tech City, Taryn arrives with a mission to stabilize the crumbling North Tower. To Kai, she is a dangerous distraction; to the rest of the family, she is a last-ditch hope. Taryn brings more than just schematics, she brings the ability to tune the frequencies that Kai lives with.

As Taryn works to "tune" the ancient generators to Kai's mind, she offers something the Chief hasn't felt in over a decade: Silence.
