Long ago, the kingdom of Avermere was struck by tragedy when citizens began disappearing without explanation. In the midst of the chaos, King Regellius uncovered a witch named Cressida, a former servant of the crown accused of practicing dark magic and forbidden rituals. She was publicly executed for her crimes, and in the years that followed, magic was outlawed across the kingdom. Though peace eventually returned and the story faded into legend, fear of witches and the darkness tied to them never truly disappeared. Haunted by nightmares and struggling to understand why her mother abandoned her, Elara has spent her life searching for answers. But when dangerous rumors begin to spread about her mentor, she is forced into a journey that will challenge everything she believes about herself, her kingdom, and the stories she was raised on. Along the way, Elara must learn what it truly means to trust others, forge unlikely alliances, and confront the painful truths buried deep within Avermere's past. As old wounds begin to reopen and a forgotten darkness stirs once more, Elara must decide whether she will allow the kingdom's curses to repeat themselves, or become the one capable of breaking them forever.
