The Synchronicity of Andromedae

Ziyu, the youngest astronaut in history, has only three years left to live due to a degenerative terminal illness. With nothing left to lose, he accepts a one-way mission in the name of science, to study Gaia BH1, the closest black hole to the Solar System.

But only thirty days into the eleven-month journey, all communication with Earth is lost.

Alone in the endless void, surviving impossible conditions and the crushing silence of space, Ziyu is thrown far beyond his course, arriving by accident in the Andromeda Galaxy. There, drifting among dead stars, he discovers another abandoned spacecraft, and inside it, a strange humanoid extraterrestrial, Arthu'Rion, Tyan-Lyae, Tian Lei.

The giant alien awakens in the lonely astronaut something he thought he had already lost, the desire to live.
