Elizabeth settled on a couch in the shop opening the newly signed book with care. On the inside page just under the sprawling signature of her best friend were the words 'For Elizabeth, my inspiration." Outside blackbirds sang.
(A 1,000 word piece that my dear friend @HungerGamesObsessive made me post. Sorry if it's incredibly awful, I'm a little rusty after not writing for a few months.)

Pinwheels and Dandelions
I was kicked around like trash on the streets. I was the book that nobody could understand or read, but without a care, they were quick to rip out the pages. I screamed for attention, but time after time, I was ignored. Nobody noticed me, so I made myself at home in my own shadow. They say there's light at the end of the tunnel -- I searched and searched for it, but it could never be found. Therefore, I lost hope as I hid in the shade and endured what seemed like everlasting pain. The little hope I did have was snatched from my arms. My baby brother was my life, and they took my glimpse of hope away. Home. Is that a word? Maybe for a family of some kind, but for me, I never had a place to call home. I moved from place to place. Unstable foster care, fighting for my life in group homes, barely surviving in detention centers, and running away from being mistreated as I made many benches my temporary home. The only thing that I was familiar with was a black plastic bag containing my dirty rags. I am too young to know what it feels like to survive. These are the cards life has dealt me and I am not meant to win; however, I easily lose without trying. It is hard for me to find peace. I am paying for my mother's reckless actions. I am trapped in a world where the sun has died because I am unable to feel love. I am unable to dream. Sorrow is my aura, and the sadness hugs me. My eyes are closed shut by the barbed wire fence from my eyelashes as they prohibit tears from falling. I am damaged. When will the morning come? Did the sun put up a fight last night, like I do every single day? If I can survive the day, I know the sun isn't dead. One day, I will awake to a glorious sunrise. Until then, I hope my brother keeps blowing his pinwheel, and I will keep making wishes with every dandelion I come across. For now, all I know is that everything was taken from me, and the only thing I own is my name.Concluida

Mr. Hoodie Is My Neighbour
VIVIAN COLLINS is an optimistic girl. She is cheerful no matter what and believes that one should live their life to its full without any regrets. In short, she is an extravert. Someone who never hesitates before doing something which would bring her joy. Everyone loves and support her. Her small friend circle and family, everything is perfect fine. But then, Vivian is Intrigued by her mysterious neighbour who just moved in. KYLE LEWIS? He is different. Different from all other guys. He hates parties and crowded places. He doesn't talk much. And most of all, he always wears hoodies. Kyle doesn't give a shit what people say about him and he doesn't care about anyone. Until, he meets his curious neighbour who is Unfortunately his Classmate too. ⋇⋇⋇ "Last question. Why do you always wear hoodie? how many do you have? Do you have any other colours other than Black and Grey? you should get green-" I cut her off instantly. Why does she talk so much? "That's more than one question." I intervene. Yet she continues, "You should get green color hoodie." she suggests with a grin. "I don't want it." I snap. "What! why not? you should get a green one, do you know why?" she voice full of excitement. I raised a brow, "Why?" "𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫!" she exclaimed. COMPLETED✅ Two high school teenagers finding themselves, analyzing this ever changing world, and building love. This is the type of love you wish you found in high school but probably know way too well that it only exists as fiction. Today I'm turning my fiction to reality. ❣️•••❣️ Excerpt: Just as I was about to seek shelter under some building's roof, the tires of a car come to a halt, I wonder who might pity the lonely girl walking in the rain. The passenger window rolls down, and I spot the most unexpected person seated behind the wheel. "Get in" comes out his voice, and I must've stood there agape for a few moments because next comes his rhetorical question. "Are you getting in or continuing walking in the rain?" Eyebrows raised expectantly. Featured by @StoriesUndiscovered for the month of September 2023 on their reading list "Curiosity Cupboard" Tied for 1ST PLACE in the Rising Star Awards 2023 in the category Short Story and Oneshots. Caleb has a gift: He can sing. But not sing just like any other kid, he might as well be the next pop star of the century. But... no one knows about it because he sings in secret. Why, you ask? Well, it's because he doesn't want others to know him. He's extremely shy. Yep that's right. Caleb is just as shy as how much he loves to sing. His introverted self doesn't allow him to just sing whenever he wants. So he finds time whenever he's alone. When at last everyone leaves him alone, oh how amazing and wonderful his voice echoes out all along the walls of anywhere he can be alone. His amazing talent, however, one day lures in an audience. Together with his newfound 'friend' sworn to keep his singing secret, they find a way to make Caleb's talent known and help him finally face his demons: attention. ----------------------------------------------------------- This is my first attempt at a short story.
