"A girl and a boy. That's how it usually starts out, right? This seems to be another of those stories, so that's where we'll start." Lily Edwards is a normal girl, in a quiet town, in a small school. With her mother a librarian and her father a police officer, she lives a fairly normal fifteen year old life. Jacob Noland is quite the contrary. His father's a scientist and his mother's a world-class artist, with more money in their pockets than they know what to do with. All his life, all he's ever known is extraordinary. He's used to having girls swoon at his name. When he moves to Lily's small town, he receives the attention he expects. Only one person doesn't care: Lily. In his interest to find out why, he learns to think like the normal people of the town. She appreciates that someone notices her. As they grow closer, both start to feel something more. But, as the year drags on, new revelations try to tear them apart, once and for all. Will it be another happy ending, or will it be a new ending to the fairytales we thought we once knew? This Is Where We Start is a traditional love story of how love is often found in the most unexpected of places between the most different of people.

All Liz wanted was to get a chance to start over. Everyday she wish she could, but that was just a wish that wouldn't be granted. But the day finally comes and she can leave her father. After a turn of events Liz finds herself moving in with the new kid in school that no one can stop talking about and his family. As much as she fights it, she falls for him. She starts believing that her past is now tucked away and she can move forward with her life. But just as things seem to be going right someone from her past makes their way back into her life.
