The Fifth Magus

For centuries, the practice of magic has been strictly forbidden among humankind-and this law was enacted by humanity itself.

The reason lies buried in history: catastrophic wars waged using sorcery, dark arts, and forbidden bodily modification, conflicts that nearly drove the human race to extinction.

To maintain order and balance, the Holy Pentagon was established.

This sacred body is governed by the Magi-supreme beings gifted with absolute dominion over the four primal elements: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire.

Legend holds that the Magi never truly perish; upon death, their souls are reborn into new vessels to continue their eternal duty.

I am one such soul, yet I walk in uncertainty.

I hold no memory of my earliest incarnations. The only fragment of my past I possess is a haunting truth, in my immediate previous life, I died on the eve of my seventh birthday.

Consequently, I do not fully understand the extent of my own power or purpose.

According to all records and lore, the laws of nature dictate that only four Magi may coexist at any given time. Yet, I exist as a fifth-hidden, unregistered, and unknown to the world.

The organization bears the name Pentagon for a reason; they seemingly acknowledge the presence of five, despite insisting that only four are meant to be. I remain the anomaly, the living paradox.

This is my story-the life of the Fifth Magus in a world designed only for four.
